A Little Nutty for Little Lad's

My husband and I recently went to Maine for our honeymoon. We spent the first couple of days in the Portland area, and then we drove up the coast to Camden, before ending our trip in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Some of the week’s most memorable moments included a ride on the mail boat to the Casco Bay islands, the view from the top of Mt. Desert and … my first taste of Little Lad’s granola.

Little Lad’s is made in the Little Lad's bakery in Corinth, ME. Their Original Granola is satisfyingly crunchy, perfectly sweet and highly addictive. I’m not sure if it’s the crushed pineapple or the combination of molasses and sea salt in the ingredients, but this all-natural, slow-cooked, vegan granola has a complex, delightful flavor that is the perfect complement to yogurt, or milk, and berries. I even found it delightful sprinkled on ice cream or just snacked on straight from the bag.

I first discovered Little Lad’s at a fantastic independent coffee shop in Camden, ME, called Zoot, where we had a nice warm breakfast one foggy, drizzly morning. (You’ll find the recipe for Zoot’s yummy version of porridge below.) I was instantly hooked, and at the next organic market we came across, I bought a bag of Little Lad’s to take home to New York.

Look for Little Lad’s in your local natural food store, but be forewarned that it's difficult to find outside of the great state of Maine. You can order it online, however, at the State of Maine Cheese Shop.
